2019 Competition Results & Year in Review

During the summer month of 2019 we ran the “Junior Summer Sessions” supported by Appleby and Sea Change Recruitment.

This included and series of fun surfs, beach BBQ and scored heats finishing with a Junior Island Championships. These Junior Sessions had 25 juniors taking part including 11 girls and it was really positive to watch them all progress their surfing 🙂

While this was going on Tom Hook was travelling off island to take part in national competitions, achieving amazing results in the Rip Curl Grom Searches in Jersey 3rd U16 and 1st U14 and in UK Search event 2nd U14.

For the first time in a number of years we were able to run a Ladies Islands Championship.

Christmas Party 2019 LGM

Christmas Party @ LGM

The GSC Christmas Party is on Sunday Lunchtime 15th December 12.30. @ LGM
Spaces are limited to approx 100. Each table can accommodate a maximum of 10 people. Normally people book a table of 10 if you have less than ten that’s fine, you can also reserve an individual places.
This year LGM have new terms and we MUST pay two weeks prior to the event so please send in your menu choices and payment early this year!

If you could please let us know as soon as possible who wants a table we will reserve them on a first come first served basis.

We have a spread sheet template together with the menus, if you are organising a table please fill in details and menu choices into the ‘table organiser template (click to download)‘ it helps us enormously (and reduces the chance of errors).

Junior Sessions Comp and Women’s Open 2019

This afternoon we ran the GSC Women’s open competition and the final comp of the Appleby and Sea Change Recruitment supported, Junior Summer Session. A big thanks to every who came down to day to participate and everyone that helped out. We had great conditions for the final surf event of the season for the Juniors. The Awards evening will be at the Les Roquettes Hotel on Sunday the 6th October starting at 5pm until 7..30. The women’s open results will be announced at LGM Christmas Lunch.

Night Surf

Here’s the video from GSC Night surf to raise money for charity (Mind Guernsey) and for the GSC. Night Surf

Saturday 13th the GSC will be running a Night Surf Centres @ 8pm

The night surf open to GSC Members Only and £5 Entry fee on the night, money raised from this event will be split 50/50 between a charity and the GSC club funds.

A big thanks to IAG (international administration group (Guernsey) limited), are paying for the lights and are supplying the high vis jackets and a big chunk of glow sticks.

Please arrive by 8pm for safety briefing ready to get in the water at 8.30pm, the event will run to 11.30ish depending on the tide.

This will be a great fun evening for surfers and spectators – see you all there 🙂

2018 Cold Water Classic

COLD WATER CLASSIC | Held On: 24 March 2018.

Congratulations to Johnny Wallbridge who place 1st in today’s Cold Water Classic held pumping surf at Perelle closely followed by Jake in 2nd, Tom Colley 3rd and Andy who took 4th. It was great watching with an excellent standard of surfing in epic Perelle comp conditions. Good to see juniors Tom & Ethan pushing themselves and both holding their own with some excellent waves and young Tom making the finals. Thanks to everyone the took part and big thanks to Kev W, Chris and Martin for help judging.

COLD WATER CLASSIC | New Date 24 March 2018.

Entrants must be Guernsey Surf Club members, more details and times to follow nearer the date.

Points from this competition will go towards selection of the CI squad with the plan to hold a CI Champs this May. The current plan is to hold the seniors CI’s in Guernsey and the Juniors over in Jersey later in the year. More details to follow soon.
