The general rule of thumb is lay out everything you want to take, then half it, then half it again. ok that might be a bit extreme but you will definitely not need half the crap you probably think you will. Just remember, you can always wash stuff while you’re there and lets face it you’re going on a surf trip so no one expects cleanliness to be ultra-high on the agenda! The less you take the less hassle it’s going to be and the less likely you are to get stung with excess baggage fees. Below is a list I’ve grabbed from an old Surfer mag article and ammended slightly but it gives you a rough idea of what you need for a two week surf trip to a warm climate.
