‘Tom Hook’ travelling to the the World Junior Surfing Championships as part of the CISF team.

13-year-old Guernsey surfer, Tom Hook, is heading off to California next week to represent the Channel Islands in the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships. The competition is being held at the renowned break of Huntington Beach. Tom, who will be competing in the Under 16s age category, will be joined by four Jersey boys to surf against the world’s best. This is the second time Hook has represented the Channel Islands at world level, having surfed at the World Juniors in Hyuga, Japan last year, earning his ranking of 81st in the world.

The schedule for the event will be as follows*:

October 27 – Opening Ceremony at 10am, Main St. and Pier Plaza
October 27 – Competition to commence at 3pm, Huntington Beach Pier south side
October 28 – November 4 – Competition at Huntington Beach Pier south side, 7:30am – 5pm
November 4 – Closing Ceremony after competition
*Schedule subject to changes. All times in Pacific Standard Time.

Night Surf

Saturday 13th the GSC will be running a Night Surf Centres @ 8pm

The night surf open to GSC Members Only and £5 Entry fee on the night, money raised from this event will be split 50/50 between a charity and the GSC club funds.

If your not currently a paid up member renew now at guernseysurfclub.com.

A big thanks to IAG (international administration group (Guernsey) limited), are paying for the lights and are supplying the high vis jackets and a big chunk of glow sticks.

Please arrive by 8pm for safety briefing ready to get in the water at 8.30pm, the event will run to 11.30ish depending on the tide.

This will be a great fun evening for surfers and spectators – see you all there 🙂

Junior Series – Surf Session 2

The second of this summers Junior Series events was a great fun morning. The small waves on offer enabled us to work with the juniors on their wave catching and pop-ups. It was great to see all the groms having fun and getting some waves in this session 🙂 thanks to everyone who came down to help out.

Life Saving Training Course with the Guernsey Surf School

Last week the Guernsey Surf School ran a bespoke Surf Lifesaving courses for the GSC. This was a great fun course aimed at ensuring that we have lifeguarding cover for GSC events especially this summers junior series. the course was run over two evenings and was possible thanks to support from Investec Community Donations, EFG Private Bank (Channel Islands) Limited and Sea Change Recruitment. A big thanks to the surf school, our sponsors and to everyone that took part

2018 Cold Water Classic

COLD WATER CLASSIC | Held On: 24 March 2018.

Congratulations to Johnny Wallbridge who place 1st in today’s Cold Water Classic held pumping surf at Perelle closely followed by Jake in 2nd, Tom Colley 3rd and Andy who took 4th. It was great watching with an excellent standard of surfing in epic Perelle comp conditions. Good to see juniors Tom & Ethan pushing themselves and both holding their own with some excellent waves and young Tom making the finals. Thanks to everyone the took part and big thanks to Kev W, Chris and Martin for help judging.


COLD WATER CLASSIC | New Date 24 March 2018.

Entrants must be Guernsey Surf Club members, more details and times to follow nearer the date.

Points from this competition will go towards selection of the CI squad with the plan to hold a CI Champs this May. The current plan is to hold the seniors CI’s in Guernsey and the Juniors over in Jersey later in the year. More details to follow soon.

European Surfing Championships CISF team head to Bore Beach, Norway

As the Channel Islands Junior team return from Japan the CISF Senior Team head off for the Senior European Surfing Championships to be held at Bore Beach, Norway from 7th Oct-16th Oct.

The team itself has a blend of experience and youth with all surfers having competed at European, British National and International level.

This is a new location for the Europeans but the team are excited and ready to face whatever is put in front of them. With the increased activity of the Northern Atlantic over the last week the team should expect some decent surf.
